Vorig jaar liep ik naar het postkantoor voor kaartjes voor een optreden van Neil Young. Dat bleek niet meer te kunnen. Op de terugweg bedacht ik dit liedje, op wijs van Don' let it bring you down van de beste man.
Young men on the side of the road
by the post office they queue
walkman close and a sleeping bag
and there's not much else to do
10 am and the rush begins
the first ones show their cash
rattling from the ticket machine
how we hope it will be fast
Don't let it be sold out
with all these people yearning
and Mojo Concerts earning
and Neil Young coming 'round
A new age bringing in new ways
or ordering online
quiet streets on Saturdays
postal servants they decline
The ideal of an equal way
buy your tickets through the site
mighty servers on a Saturday
and you wonder if they might…
Don't let them bring you down
all these people yearning
Mojo should be earning
and Neil Young selling out
Those who click the most get the tickets most
and put them up for sale
old young men with their sleeping bags
and a gig for which they'd kill
a black market is a market too
supply meets the demand
whizzkids know just what to do
and for the fan an empty hand
Don't let it bring you down
believe that you are learning
while everybody's earning
from Neil Young and your kind
